Two years ago while visiting my Italian relatives, we had a lovely family dinner inside a 15th century convent of Carmelite friars in Bergamo, Italy. Peering out over a courtyard that has been restored into a banquet hall, the glass floors reveal old Roman ruins. On the other side is a glass-enclosed banquet room hosting an intimate dinner party. You don’t quite know if you are in peering out or outside peering in. It’s a unique perspective. Oh and the food was divine.
